The Master of Education in School Health Services is committed to preparing professionals to function effectively in settings in which children and youth are served. The mission of the program is to produce outstanding health professionals who are committed to meeting the needs of a diverse population and to their holistic development. This MEd program has two tracks: School Health Supervisor certification and School Nurse certification.
MEd in School Health Services with the School Nurse certification track requires the following course work.¬† Regardless of the chosen area of concentration, all students in this degree program take the following four core courses plus two electives, as shown, for a total of 18 credits:
- EDU 636 Research Design
- HSCI 560 Community and Environment Health
- HSCI 601 World Health Issues
- HSCI 515 Curriculum and Health Education in Diverse Populations
- Two Electives
School Nurse Certification Concentration:
- EDU 500 Foundations of Education
- NURS 508 Legal Mandated Responsibilities of the School Nurse
- NURS 509 School Nurse and the Exceptional Child
- NURS 530 School Nurse Clinical Practicum
School Health Supervisor Concentration:
- EDU 607 Supervision of Instruction
- EDU 624 School Law
- EDU 614 Practicum for Supervisors
- EDU 608 Seminar for Supervisors
Students who choose either concentration take an additional four courses (12 credits for a total of 30). School Health Supervisors must pass the Educational Leadership Praxis exam.
(Educational Leadership  Praxis exam is required for supervisor certification)
** Statistics is a pre-requirement to EDU 635 Research Design. Statistics must be within 5 years of admission.

A.¬†Up to 9 graduate credits may be accepted in transfer from an accredited school, college or university. You will be asked to submit an official transcript so that these courses may be evaluated for equivalency of content.
