Dr. R. Keith Iddings currently serves as Provost at Eastern University.  For almost ten years prior to joining the Eastern family he was provost at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina.  His two and a half decades in higher education administration have allowed him to play a variety of academic roles at Christian universities including Trinity International University and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dr. Iddings received his AB degree in biology from Asbury College and his MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary.  While at the seminary he was Associate Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Bethel, Ohio.  From 1982 to 1987 he and his wife were involved in cross-cultural missions through the non-denominational mission, OMS International (now One Mission Society).

After serving as a church-planting missionary in the Philippines for close to four years, Iddings earned a PhD in Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He has been recognized by colleagues as a practical innovator in educational programming and administration.  His leadership can be seen in activities such as the founding of the Christian Adult Higher Education Association (CAHEA).

In every part of his journey, Iddings has sought to advance Christ’s Kingdom in submission to the Holy Spirit.  Ordained by both the American Baptist Churches and The Wesleyan Church, he sees his entire life, including his current position at Eastern, in terms of the calling of God to serve with strong faith, clear reason, and just, Christ-like action toward the “least of these.”
