Because marketing incorporates a variety of business disciplines, it is vital that students acquire knowledge in all aspects of business administration. The business faculty has defined the following courses as the business core.

Students in the marketing major are also required to take 6 credits of a  foreign language.

Through Eastern University’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter, students can develop and strengthen valuable marketing skills critical to successful employment in the marketplace. Members of SIFE create, implement, and complete outreach projects concerning issues associated with free enterprise. The results of these year-long activities are presented to a panel of American business leaders at SIFE competitions, both regionally and nationally.

Minor in Marketing:

Eighteen hours to include BUSA 202 or ENTR 202, BUSA 302, 303, 311 and TWO courses from BUSA 305, 403, 405.

Internship and Individual Studies:

Junior and senior business majors may choose to participate in an internship for credit.  Students are placed in a private firm or non-profit organization where they receive supervised experience and training, designed to demonstrate the application of principles learned in the classroom.  A student may receive up to 6 credits for the work performed in the their internship.  Assignments will cover various aspects of a business firm, including (where feasible): the general organization of the business, accounting, use of computers, flow of order, and methods of marketing.

Students may also elect to construct a directed study which covers aspects of Business Management not covered in the regular curriculum. The directed study will be done with the consent of an instructor and the approval of the department chairperson.
