Study Abroad in Puebla, Mexico

The BA in International Area Studies and Business includes two semesters of study abroad at the Universidad de las Américas in Puebla, Mexico, a private Mexican university of approximately 6,000 students. Located about 80 miles southeast of Mexico City, the UDLAP is the current site for Spanish majors at Eastern who wish to study in Mexico. This institution is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and offers a major in International Business. Eastern students are permitted to matriculate in these courses with Mexican students, thereby affording them an immersion experience in a Mexican university. This is offered as a partnership between the Department of Languages and the Department of Business. Students who wish to study Business from an international perspective will benefit significantly from this major. The International Area Studies and Business major distinguishes itself from other programs in International Business because the curriculum requires one year (two semesters) of business, culture, and language courses in Spanish in Mexico.

At Eastern, language majors are encouraged to double major to ensure they bring the greatest number of skills to the workplace. Language majors typically double major in education, social work, youth ministries or missions and anthropology. This new major allows students desiring to double major in Spanish and business to study abroad and complete the program in four years.
