EDUCATION MAJORS:  INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

Laidlaw Partnership

Eastern University has two exciting exchange programs for Education majors. What this means is that Education Majors are now guaranteed the ability to study abroad and be able to take courses which will transfer and count toward their major. Because of the agreements with our partner schools, the only additional costs to students are their airline tickets and money for sightseeing while abroad.  Students pay their  tuition to Eastern, and their room and board costs are paid to the school where they do their study.

The Christian colleges we have partnered with are Laidlaw College in Auckland, New Zealand, which is a fall exchange program, and Trinity Western University in Vancouver, Canada, which is a spring exchange.

The first semester exchange between Eastern University and Trinity Western University ended this past May and was an overwhelming success.  Alyssa Donaldson and Melissa Millman were the first TWU Education majors to spend their spring semester at Eastern, a Christian University in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Both were impressed by the caring professors and students, the warm, sunny weather, the trips they were able to take to New York City and Washington, DC and the low cost of living. Hear their thoughts about their experience in the video they made before leaving, and check out a presentation about the Trinity Western University experience:

Simultaneously, Alex Wagner and Bryant Christie were the first Eastern Education majors to spend their spring semester at Trinity Western.  Both loved their experience in Vancouver.  They found the classes exciting and challenging and made strong friendships with TWU students.  The highlight for all four students was the opportunity to do field experience in school classrooms in another country.

Eastern looks forward to welcoming additional Trinity Western University Education majors this  January.  The spring semester begins January 14 and ends May 7, 2013. TWU students pay their tuition to Trinity and their room and board (which is comparable) to Eastern.  The deadline for application is October 15, 2012.  Anyone interested should contact Kimberly Franklin in the TWU Education Department.  They can also view the directions to apply here.
