This accelerated cohort program, offered by the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CCGPS) is designed to help qualified working adults complete a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K through 4th grade) in five terms (approximately 2.5 years, 63 credits).  Students who complete this program with a 3.0 GPA, have the PA certification requirements of two college math courses and two college English courses (one writing/composition and one literature), 190 observation hours, successfully pass their Praxis I and II tests, and complete student teaching at the undergraduate/graduate levels are eligible for Pennsylvania State Certification.

The BS in Early Childhood Education is offered in Philadelphia, St. Davids, and Harrisburg.

Admission Requirements

  • Sixty credits or AA degree
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better (for credits transferred)
  • Preferred age of at least 21
  • Demonstration of appropriate writing abilities
  • Satisfactory submission of the Application for Admission and supporting documents:
    • completed application (available online)
    • essay (300-500 words). Write a reflection about a person you feel personifies the attributes of Eastern's mission, which are faith, reason and justice. Your reflection must (1) conform to standard essay format: introduction with thesis, supporting body paragraph and a concluding paragraph, (2) use correct grammar and mechanics, and (3) address each of Eastern's three attributes.

The Term 6 (below) is elective and can be satisfied at the beginning of a master’s program (9 credits) or as part of the completion of an undergraduate program (15 credits). Students who wish to student teach following graduation must be officially admitted into the M. Ed. in Multicultural Education. Students can opt to student teach only. They do not have to complete the entire master's degree.
