  • Earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Pennsylvania State University
  • Earned a Masters of Arts in Communication from Lehigh University
  • Earned both an elementary and a secondary principals' certificate from Lehigh University
  • Earned a K-12 Supervisor certificate from Lehigh University

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Kawtoski has served as a middle school and high school English teacher, a high school principal, and a Director of Secondary Education in his 35 years in Basic Education. While serving various communities he also assumed responsibilities as a member of the curriculum committees for the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals. Additionally, he has trained preservice teachers at DeSales University and Eastern University.

HONORS AND PUBLICATIONS

  • Recipient of the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam
  • Recipient of Profiles in Excellence National Award for his outstanding work with parental involvement given by Executive Educator and American School Board Journal Magazine
  • Recipient of the Morning Call's Community Service award for his work on integrating severely handicapped students into his local high school student population
  • Honored by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for his contributions in establishing Statewide Drug and Alcohol Prevention Education Guidelines
  • Honored by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Health for his work in revising the State Health curriculum
  • Recipient of the Colonial Northampton Intermediate Leadership Award
  • Coauthored Citizens Education Booklet for the Pa. Association of Secondary School Principals and Coauthored " Technology and At Risk Kids for the Pennsylvania School Master
