RN Refresher Program
This is a unique partnership program between Eastern University and Genesis Healthcare System designed to suit the needs of the RN who has been out of the clinical workplace for an extended period of time and wishes to return to the nursing workforce. Direction of the program includes relearning forgotten theory, reorganizing clinical skills, restoring self-confidence and revitalizing your nursing career.
Program highlights
- The program extends over six consecutive weeks, two days per week, during daytime hours.
- Day one of each week comprises the classroom portion of the program, which includes nursing theory, medication administration, review of body systems, review of bio/psycho/social/spiritual assessments, and nursing lab practice.
- Day two of each week provides the opportunity to become re-acquainted with the clinical setting. Rittenhouse Pine Nursing Center, a Genesis Health Care facility in Norristown and Brandywine Hall in West Chester, have opened their doors as an excellent clinical site. These facilities offer many opportunities to work with clients who have both chronic and acute illnesses in long term care and transitional care units. Rittenhouse Pine and Brandywine Hall have proven to be the perfect mix of clients with a welcoming staff and dedicated DON. Students work with a qualified Eastern University faculty member/preceptor, and also work together in order to sharpen their skills. The atmosphere is similar to a “simulated nursing school”.
- Depending on market needs and student interests, the program will be offered semi-annually in Spring and Fall.
Program costs
- The cost of the program is $1800.00. There is no financial aid or scholarship assistance available at this time. The complete cost of the program must be paid in full prior to the start of the first class. Eastern University accepts personal checks, money orders, Master Card and Visa.
- The student will not be paid during the clinical experience.
Genesis Health Care tuition reimbursement offer
Genesis Health Care has offered an RN Refresher Student full tuition reimbursement if full time employment is obtained at a Genesis facility at the completion of the program. The complete interview process is required for employment and will be initiated individually by the student.
Licensure/Clinical requirements
