A Convenient Adult-Learning Experience
By the year 2020, the U.S. healthcare industry expects to see a shortage of 800,000 registered nurses, just as the aging baby-boomer population increases its demand on medical services. With this in mind, Eastern University has developed a program to help students who have non-nursing bachelor’s degrees prepare for a nursing career in as little as two years of full-time study. Classes are held in St. Davids. Here is how it works:
An Application-Oriented Curriculum
- Credits from the student’s previous degree program fulfill a variety of requirements for the BSN Two2, allowing the student to complete the program in two years of full-time study.
- The BSN Two2 curriculum incorporates teaching strategies that support and encourage adult learning. Faculty in the program are experienced professionals who stay current with the latest developments in nursing and health care.
- Theory courses are merged with comprehensive clinical experiences at regional hospitals and health care facilities.
- Eastern’s state-of-the-art Nursing Resource Clinical Laboratory provides a simulated healthcare setting in which students can practice and develop psychomotor skills, as well as build confidence.
- A break between the first and second years of study allows students to work as “externs” at hospitals of their choice. Student And Academic Support.
- Each cohort of students stays together throughout the program, providing a continuous support-group environment.
- Forty full-time staff are available to advise and support students.
- A full-time Skills Laboratory Manager assists in the learning of nursing skills.
- Students have access to an on-campus computer lab as well as Eastern’s comprehensive library
