Welcome to the Early College High School and Dual Credit Programs

One of the constant challenges of education is how to help students develop patterns of thinking that cross cultural and disciplinary boundaries in meaningful ways. For urban students, the need for cross-cultural understanding and dialogue and interdisciplinary problem solving can be found in their own neighborhoods. If these young men and women are encouraged now to master the knowledge and skills required to negotiate cross-cultural cooperation within their chosen disciplines, they will have attained a skill valued highly in any professional setting.
Cross-Boundaries College for Young Professionals
The Cross Boundaries College for Young Professionals is a dual enrollment program funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that allows high school students to earn college credit while taking courses that count simultaneously toward high school graduation. The mission of the Cross Boundaries College for Young Professionals is to remove barriers to postsecondary education by providing courses that present an opportunity for qualified high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits that count toward completion of a high school diploma. Through the delivery of courses that include a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approach students' cross-cultural and global competence is strengthened. The Cross Boundaries College for Young Professionals targets the capable, not just the exceptional high school junior and senior students who demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in a non-remedial college course. The ideal student is highly motivated and driven to succeed in high school and attend college. Cross-Boundaries College removes barriers to postsecondary education. These courses for high school juniors and seniors prepare high school students with academic rigor, cultural character and the dedicated support to reveal their promise and inspire success.
