Employment

Don Kelly is Director of Community and Economic Development for the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition where he creates and manages programs to connect low- and moderate-income communities to the resources of mainstream financial institutions. Prior to that Don managed community reinvestment for PNC Bank and was Senior Community Affairs Specialist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

Educator

Don has also been on the part-time faculty of Eastern University since 1991 where he teaches courses on urban planning, community revitalization, economic development and public policy. In his youth he was a Community Development Specialist with the Peace Corps in Guatemala and a community worker with Catholic Charities of Chicago.

Author

He is the author of several articles about community development and co-author of the book, Nonprofits with Hard-Hats – case studies of six nonprofit community and economic development corporations in Chicago.

Personal

Don and his wife Christine have been residents of Haverford Township since 1986. They have two grown children in the area. He served on the board of the Haverford Township Adult School for four years, co-founded the community gardening group, Haverford Green and has been on the Civic Council board since 1997. He served as president of the Civic Council from 2005-2009. In 2005 Don led the effort to organize the Citizens Task Force for Commercial Revitalization as an initiative of the Civic Council. He has served as coordinator of the Citizens Task Force since its founding and played a leadership role in launching the Hometown Partnership for Economic Development.
