Pre-Requisites for Masters of Business Administration Offered Online
The School of Leadership and Development offers the required foundation courses for the MBA program online!
The four foundation courses listed below are required by all MBA students of
Eastern University (and most other colleges and universities) for those students
who have not had courses in these areas in their previous educational
background.
In order to address the needs of Eastern’s MBA in Economic Development
program, an online delivery of the courses has been developed. Although it has
been developed for this program, it is also open to students of other programs
of Eastern in order to gain the competencies which will best prepare students to
succeed in their graduate level studies and have a fuller, well-rounded
understanding of business.
The following are the dates and registration deadlines of the Foundations
Courses. You will be required to take these additional courses prior to any
graduate studies, no exceptions.
These courses are priced separately from Eastern’s Economic Development MBA
tuition. 2005-2006 rates of tuition for online Foundation courses is $310 per
credit. Each of the foundation courses is 3 credits. The list of required
textbooks will be available closer to the start date of the classes.

your intended program enrollment as well as courses you need to take. Additional ways to complete foundation courses if not through Eastern
University:
1. Successfully complete undergraduate business courses at another
accredited university or college with a grade of C or better and have the
official transcripts sent to Eastern University SLD Admissions.
- The equivalency to ACCT 223 would require courses in both Financial
Accounting and Managerial Accounting
- The equivalency to BUSA 223 would require content in Forecasting and
Regression Analysis
- The equivalency to Econ 223 would require courses in both Macro Economics
and Micro Economics
- The equivalency to FIN 223 would require courses in ACCT 223 or Financial
and Managerial Accounting
We would recommend that we approve the courses through the Program
Coordinator before you take them so there is no confusion.
For your convenience, below is a list of accredited schools that offer
business courses online. These can be transferred to Eastern University as
long as the courses are coming from a fully accredited College/University.
Some of the schools offering online course are:
University of Tennessee,
University of Washington
University of Kansas
University of Wisconsin Madison
University of Ohio
Cerro Coso Community College
2. Some of these courses can also be completed through the following:
The College-Level Examination Program® or CLEP (www.collegeboard.com/clep)
provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level
achievement through a program of exams. They offer Principles of Accounting
and Financial Accounting which when taken together would satisfy the ACCT 223
foundation requirement.
3. The DANTES Distance Learning Program provides a wide range of
nontraditional education programs critical for Service members who need
alternatives to fulfill degree requirements when classroom courses are
unavailable or when work schedules or duty locations do not permit class
attendance. DANTES provides undergraduate courses from nearly 150
institutions.
