From the Provost:

I am privileged to personally welcome you to Eastern University, a learning community of over 4,000 students who share a passion to make a difference in the world. Approximately 1,200 of our students study and reside in a traditional undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences on our St. Davids campus, while approximately 2,800 are pursuing their goals in the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies, Palmer Seminary and Esperanza College. In addition to our St. Davids campus, our students and faculty come together in classrooms in Philadelphia, the southeastern and central Pennsylvania regions and around the world, including Africa, Asia and Latin America. Nearly 15,000 Eastern alumni are impacting the kingdom around the globe.

Such measures can be helpful in describing Eastern’s complexity and reach. However, at its core, the mission of Eastern is defined first and foremost by the integration of faith, reason, and justice.

In his book The Active Life, Parker Palmer said, “If we do not value learning, we will not risk, and our actions will be limited to small and predictable arenas in which we know we can succeed.” The University’s current Strategic Plan, Eastern University: 2007 & Beyond calls us to new and greater ways of risk by continually moving us beyond our predictable arenas to advance the kingdom.
