Karen Piscopo comes to Eastern from a 31-year career in the Philadelphia School system. Beginning as a teacher of the the Learning Disabled at the Chandler School, she then served as the Department Chairperson for Special Education at Frankford High School. In 1996, Piscopo was appointed Assistant Principal at George Washington High School. She supervised Special Education, the Mentally-gifted program, ESOL, Modern Language, Music, Art, Physical Education and Social Studies. She was recognized as a Teacher of Excellence by the Philadelphia School District.
Piscopo has also served as a team chair on many teams for the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools. She has taught as an adjunct for Eastern University since 2001. Upon her retirement in 2006 from the District, Piscopo became full time at EU.
