On-Campus Nursing Clinical Resource Lab

Eastern University's on-campus Nursing Clinical Resource Laboratory provides a controlled environment where nursing students learn, practice, and refine the skills needed to function in the clinical setting. The lab is designed in such a way as to simulate the patient care setting and specialty practice areas. Systems models, simulators, manikins, videos, and CD-ROMs. Students will also assume the role of "patient" in activities such as range of motion exercises, positioning of the patient, transfers from bed to chair, wheelchair, stretcher, patient teaching exercises, physical assessment, etc. Interview skills and communication techniques are incorporated into the various patient-care scenarios. The Virtual Intravenous (VIV) Trainer provides students with the opportunity to learn intravenous skills and to practice within the virtual setting. Scenarios are chosen that will enhance the learning experience through decision making and prioritizing

St. Davids Campus

Eastern University’s picturesque campus is the perfect place for college students to live and study, with on-campus residence halls, the Warner library, multiple study rooms, the recently renovated McInnis Learning Center, and state-of-the-art classrooms. The Warner Library provides nursing students with access to 65,000 periodical titles in paper and electronic format, 870,000+ microform items, and over 60,000 full text ejournals, including the most current and popular health and medical resources. Historic Mainline

Nestled in affluent Wayne, PA, Eastern University is in one of the top 10 college communities in the country (USA Today). There are 40 colleges in the Philadelphia and Philadelphia suburbs, 25% of which are on the Main Line. Eastern students can take advantage of Wayne’s small, walkable downtown, which is lined with local cafes, stores, and businesses. The Philadelphia area is an especially good resource for nursing students who are looking for internships or work experience in local practices and health centers.

Eastern University is situated just outside the major, historic urban metropolis of Philadelphia, a diverse city which evinces all of the benefits and challenges of a major urban center and which provides unique learning and living opportunities for students. Eastern students can take the train from the St. Davids station (located adjacent to campus) and be in the city within 20-25 minutes. BSN students can take advantage of Philadelphia's numerous prestigious hospitals, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
