M.Div., Princeton Theological Seminary
At Eastern Since: 2013

Hailing from the Midwest, Laura Colee began teaching in the Department of Theology at Eastern in 2013. Receiving a BA in History and Religion at Northwestern University and an MDiv at Princeton Theological Seminary, Laura brings a love of all things Hebrew Bible to her courses at Eastern. In her Master’s thesis, she explored Biblical descriptions of reproductive loss, particularly in the Prophets, and the Church’s role in caring for those affected by miscarriage, infertility, infant mortality, etc. She currently serves as the full-time Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield, NJ and is a Candidate for ordination in the PCUSA. She strives to help bridge the academic and Church worlds, believing the two are deeply enriched when they are brought in conversation with one another.

Laura resides in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and is an active participant in the Broad Street Ministry faith community in Center City.

Why I Teach at Eastern

I teach at Eastern because I am passionate about facilitating thoughtful engagement with Scripture and personal faith. I am committed to creating safe spaces for students to explore, stretch and ask questions of their beliefs about God, the Bible, the Church and the world. I deeply love introducing others to the rich variety of literature found in Scripture and encouraging them to make these Biblical stories their own. It is a tremendous privilege to walk alongside students as they encounter God in a new way and go out into the world to uniquely serve Christ’s Church.
