American Baptist Aid Programs

About the Program

The purpose of the American Baptist Financial Aid program is threefold:

  • To nurture current and future American Baptist lay and clergy leaders
  • To provide financial aid to American Baptist students at seminaries, colleges, and universities
  • To demonstrate the partnership between American Baptist Churches USA and its related educational institutions

The following apply to all American Baptist Financial Aid programs.  Applicants must:

  • be a member of an American Baptist church for at least one year before
  • applying for aid
  • be enrolled at an accredited educational institution in the USA or Puerto Rico
  • be a United States Citizen

Undergraduate and Minority Scholarships

Undergraduate students attending an American Baptist-related college or university full-time may apply for renewable scholarships of $1,000 per academic year, to be paid directly to the school and credited toward the recipient's tuition. Preference is give to persons preparing for careers in church leadership or human services. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic standing. Scholarship cannot be combined with other funding from the American Baptist Scholarship Program. Minority scholarships are awarded to freshmen only.

Student Loan Program

Low interest loans are available to American Baptist undergraduate and graduate students. Full-time undergraduates may borrow a yearly maximum of $500 ($2,000 over four years). Full-time graduate students may borrow $1,000 annually ($3,000 over three years). Part-time students are eligible for half these amounts.
