THANK YOUR MENTOR DAY JAN. 24

January is National Mentoring Month to highlight the impact a mentor can have on a young adult's life. Although the month is almost over, there is still plenty of time to say "thank you" to a special person in your life who has been a mentor to you. January 24 is "Thank Your Mentor Day" so take 30 seconds out of your day and say thank you. Appreciation goes a long way.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.Our Windows on the World series is proud to present King's Dream  - A Celebration of Peace and Diversity on Jan. 25 at 10AM in McInnis Auditorium on the St. Davids campus. King's Dream is a multimedia presentation that offers a rousing tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Nobel Peace Prize recipient who led America's peaceful revolution for equal rights. For those who don't remember Dr. King, the era comes alive with images, singers and songs that capture the spirit of the civil rights movement. This program is free and open to the public. The Templeton Honors College at Eastern University presents Dr. Philip Jenkins from Penn State on Thurs., Jan. 31 from 7-9PM; and Dr. Harold Heie from Gordon College on Thurs., Feb. 7 from 7-9PM. Both events will be in McInnis Auditorium, St. Davids. Dr. Philip will discuss "How the Church Dies,"  the history of the destruction or removal of Christian beliefs in a particular region. SPRING BREAK IN IRELAND

CAPSTONE TRIP TO ARGENTINA

A capstone course will be offered in the Spring with an emphasis on cross-cultural ministry and a 9-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, during Spring break. No Spanish is required. Help Wanted

STUDENT TO WORK WITH 9th GRADER

Wanted: education, psychology or social work major to work with our 9th grade son, who has Asperger’s.  Location - Wynnewood, about 6 miles from campus.  Work would initially involve picking up from school and driving home (about a 10-minute drive), followed by homework. Once a rapport is established, we would like this person to help our son with activities such as conversations, problem solving, negotiating, and going out in the community.  Soon after that, the job could be expanded to facilitating play dates with others. THE TOUCH EXPERIENCE JAN. 18-19

Learn how to touch and transform your community with the love of Jesus Christ!

During these presentations, participants will hear and engage the fundamental values and ministry of The TOUCH EXPERIENCE. Rudy Rasmus, co-pastor of St. John's Downtown United Methodist Church in Houston, TX, and Christian Washington, church member and director, Real Coaching, Inc., will demonstrate to participants how their congregations can touch their communities with the transforming love of Jesus Christ. Under the leadership of Co-Pastors Rudy and Juanita Rasmus, St. John s congregation has grown from 9 to 9,000 members, 3,000 of whom are homeless. To learn more about ministries of the church visit www.stjohnsdowntown.org. Videos on the site explain ministries such as the weekly Foot Washing for the Homeless , Bread of Life, Inc., homeless outreach project, Beyonce s Global Anti-Hunger Drive, and more.
