BASKETBALL VS. CABRINI JAN. 28
It’s time again for “The Battle of Eagle Road” on Monday, January 28, when the Eastern University basketball teams will be taking on the Cabrini Cavaliers in a home doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 6PM with the men to follow at 8PM. Please come out and support your Eastern Eagles, and cheer them on to victory. Let’s pack the gymnasium with Screamin’ Eagles fans. ANNUAL MET OPERA TRIP MARCH 15
On Sat. March 15 we will leave McInnis parking lot on the St. Davids campus at 1:30PM to be dropped off at the Lincoln Center in New York City. This will give everyone enough time to have dinner on their own. We have tickets for the 8PM show of Verdi's LaTraviata. With a special thank you to the generosity of Student Development, EU undergraduate student tickets for undergraduate students are just $44! The cost for all others is $65. These low prices include the Opera and round trip charter bus. Tickets are available from Colleen in the Music Office, with preference to Music majors until Jan. 31; all other students until Feb. 8. As part of their community service program, the Eastern University cheerleaders will hold a Cheerleading Clinic on Saturday, February 9 from 11-2PM on the St. Davids campus. Our Windows on the World series is proud to present King's Dream - A Celebration of Peace and Diversity on Jan. 25 at 10AM in McInnis Auditorium on the St. Davids campus. King's Dream is a multimedia presentation that offers a rousing tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Nobel Peace Prize recipient who led America's peaceful revolution for equal rights. For those who don't remember Dr. King, the era comes alive with images, singers and songs that capture the spirit of the civil rights movement. This program is free and open to the public. CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER JAN. 31 and FEB. 7
The Templeton Honors College at Eastern University presents Dr. Philip Jenkins from Penn State on Thurs., Jan. 31 from 7-9PM; and Dr. Harold Heie from Gordon College on Thurs., Feb. 7 from 7-9PM. Both events will be in McInnis Auditorium, St. Davids. Dr. Philip will discuss "How the Church Dies," the history of the destruction or removal of Christian beliefs in a particular region. Dr. Heie presents, "Respectful Conversations in the Academy," a look at the ways Christian scholars do, or do not, engage the wider scholarly world. Free and open to the public. SPRING BREAK IN IRELAND
There is space for four more travelers on the Ireland trip (and in the course, if you want it for credit). The trip leaves Feb. 29 and returns March 9. The cost is $2378 and includes airfare, hotels, ground transportation in Ireland, and lots of sightseeing. We'll visit Dublin, Belfast, Galway, beautiful countryside and small towns. CAPSTONE TRIP TO ARGENTINA
A capstone course will be offered in the Spring with an emphasis on cross-cultural ministry and a 9-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, during Spring break. No Spanish is required.
