FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL BEGINS MARCH 14French Film Festival

Eastern presents TheTournes Festival which is made possible with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Ministry of Culture (CNC). Held at St. Davids, it’s free and open to the public.

  • Friday, March 14, Eagle Great Room at 7PM: DEPUIS QU’OTAR EST PARTI, Directed By Julie Bertuccelli. The story of three Georgian women who live together in contemporary Tbilisi. 
  • Tuesday, March 18, Gough Great Room at 7PM: LE GRAND SILENCE Directed By Philip Grning.  An examination of life inside the Grande Chartreuse, the head monastery of the reclusive Carthusian Order in France.  
  • Monday, March 31, Gough Great Room at 7PM. LES AMITIS MALFIQUES Directed By Emmanuel Bourdieu. Two college students both quickly fall for the smartest kid in school, Andr.  
  • Tuesday, April 8, Gough Great Room at 7PM. BAMAKO Directed By Abderrahmane Sissako.  A trial taking place in the courtyard of Bamako, Mali is pitting African civil society against the World Bank and the IMF. 
  • Tuesday, April 15, Gough Great Room at 7PM. LE PLAFOND DE VERRE Directed By Yamina Benguigui.  A documentary about discrimination and challenges found in the workplace for immigrants and women.

THE SOUNDS OF BROADWAY FEB. 23

Come to a benefit concert for GODCHA (Global Outreach Drama Company and Homeland Associates) on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 4PM in McInnis Auditorium, St. Davids. GODCHA is a nonprofit missions organization started by students Natalie Cisternas '08 and Bailey Pretak '08.  The vision of GODCHA is to teach dance, theater, and music to orphans and underprivileged children around the world. Concert is FREE, with donations accepted.

The residence halls at St. Davids close over Spring Break March 1-9, and many are unable to make the costly trip home. SCANDAL OF EVANGELICAL POLITICS CONFERENCE AT PALMER SEMINARY MARCH 28-30Palmer

How should I vote in 2008? What issues are most important to God? This conference addresses these and other timely questions. Sponsored by The Sider Center on Ministry and Public Policy and Evangelicals for Social Action and held at Palmer Seminary in Wynnewood, PA. CAPSTONE TRIP TO ARGENTINA

A capstone course will be offered in the Spring with an emphasis on cross-cultural ministry and a 9-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, during Spring break. No Spanish is required. DELAWARE CO. SYMPHONY MARCH 2 Composer

The Delaware County Symphony, under the direction of Roman Pawlowski, presents its third full symphony concert on Sunday, March 2, at 3PMin the Meagher Theatre of the Life Center at Neumann College, OneNeumann Drive, Aston,PA. The concert will be a beautiful tribute to Russian music entitled,"AllTchaikovsky". Program will include The Romeo and Juliet Overture, TheSleeping Beauty Suite, and the Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique". Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors/students,$10 for groups of ten or more,and free for children 12 and under with paying adult. The Life Center has ample parking and is handicapped accessible. The Friends of the Marple Public Library are hosting a bus trip to Rockefeller Center, New York City, on Saturday, May 3. Deluxe motorcoach leaves from the Marple Library, Broomall at 8AM and will return to the library about 8:45PM. This is a day on your own in New York City to shop, sightsee or enjoy Broadway theatre. Mar. 1-9, 2008 Habitat for Humanity: Two teams will tackle low cost home construction in the U.S. over spring break.
