Linda began her college career at the University of Concepcion, Chile, and completed the B.A. in Sociology at Eastern College in 1972. She received the M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. For the past 32 years, Linda has worked as a program coordinator, agency director, crisis counselor, school principal, and community planner in a wide variety of nonprofit and governmental agencies. OLD ELECTRONICS WANTED FOR MISSIONS FUNDRAISER APRIL 4
The Philippines 2008 mission team is collecting old and used cell phones, ink jet printer cartridges, DVD movies and videogames, portable DVD players, laptop computers, MP3 players, x-boxes, Sony Playstations, Wii, digital cameras and digital video cameras, digital picture frames, and portable navigation and GPS devices. RECYCLING ON CAMPUS
Eastern University has two main types of recycling on the St. Davids campus:
- Commingles: all aluminum, glass, and #1 and #2 plastics.
- Paper/Cardboard: all clean paper products and cardboard that have not been touched by food. Paper products can be any color, magazines, junk mail, newspaper, and envelopes. These items can have staples, small amounts of tape, glue or other packing materials.
Thanks for recycling and being good stewards of our beautiful campus environment!
PALESTINIAN ART DISPLAY AT LIBRARY MAR. 24-APRIL 25
Come see photos taken by EU student Adam Beach of Arab Palestinians who live in either the occupied Palestinian territories or are citizens of Israel. Most of the persons pictured are refugees. Prints are for sale. Adam Beach is an emerging photojournalist and student of Middle Eastern Studies and Cultural Anthropology. From May to July 2007 Adam traveled throughout the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Israel with EU students Megan Tahquette and Peder Wiegner photographing and filming various forms of nonviolent resistance against the Israeli occupation. Beach's photos will be part of a documentary film project set to be released in May, 2008. The film is called Handala and will be screened at film festivals and artistic venues on the East Coast and Midwest. Beach can be contacted at wagepeacebeach@ gmail.com. NOMINATE BARNABAS SERVANT LEADERS BY APRIL 7
The Barnabas Servant Leadership Award, sponsored by the Barney II Foundation of River Forest, IL, is awarded annually to juniors who have demonstrated outstanding servant leadership on campus or in the community. This year we expect to make 2-4 awards; each winner will receive a monetary grant and the opportunity to donate to the EU volunteer organization of her/his choice. Last year’s award winners were Kevin Bennett, Edie Doane, Cliff Gehret and Peder Wiegner. To nominate a junior student for this award, e-mail YOUR name, the NOMINEE’s name, a description of the voluntary activity on campus, in the community or church on which you base your nomination, and a description of the servant leadership qualities possessed by the candidate and how she/he has affected the life of the campus, community or organization to Tess Bradley, Director, Career & Leadership Development (tbradley@eastern.edu.) SCANDAL OF EVANGELICAL POLITICS CONFERENCE AT PALMER SEMINARY MARCH 28-30

REPORT SUMMER STUDENTS TO SODEXHO BY APRIL 18
Does your dept. or office hire summer students who will be boarders on campus? Sodexho Campus Services needs to know the names and ID numbers of the students who are working for you during the summer if they are going to be on a meal plan. Please send them in no later than April 18. During the summer, billing will be done at a rate of $55.23 per week. To avoid being charged for a week in which your student is on vacation, please send us a notice one week in advance of the days he or she will be off campus. It is your responsibility, as a department, to inform Sodexho (Scott Lofland X5820 or Mike Kenis X5052 or e-mail slofland@eastern.edu) and student Life (Daryl Hawkins X5833) with this information. It is not the student’s responsibility. If Sodexho is not informed of the student’s vacation one week prior, your department will be charged the full weekly rate. There will be no credits issued on invoices for departments that fail to do so. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Eastern University undergraduate students collect books and share their interests. Deadline for entries is April 4. Contest rules: Six to ten books may be entered per collection. The collections will be judged on the basis of depth of personal interest, unity of purpose and potential value for future scholarship. Include a one-page paper that lists your name and contact information, the titles of each book in your collection, a short description of each, and why you chose these books for your collection. We are looking for well-crafted essays; length must be at least 400 words and must not exceed 750 words; essays must be the original work of the applicant. Bolivia, May 12-27, 2008: Our team of 11 will return to Cochabamba to work with MAP, a comprehensive health agency.
Missions Forum, Oct. 22-24, 2008: Missions organizations and activities on campus, sponsored by Student Missions Fellowship (SMF).
