New Item!COMMENCEMENT MAY 10Commencement

The undergraduate ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on the Auxiliary Field, while the graduate ceremony will begin there at 2:30 p.m.  Commencement will be held on the campus at 1300 Eagle Road in St. Davids, PA. The commencement speaker is Dr. Randall Balmer, distinguished historian and professor of American religious history at Barnard College of Columbia University.  The ceremony will be held outside, rain or shine.  In the event of lightning or severe weather, the ceremony will be held in the Gym.  Visitors may park in the main campus lots or residence hall lots along Eagle Road; security staff will be directing motorists to available parking.  For general questions, contact the Special Events Office at 1.888.889.7229.  In case of severely inclement weather, call 610.341.5800 for information or visit www.eastern.edu.

CCO HOST ONE U AT EASTERN UNIVERSITY APRIL 19

On Saturday, April 19, the CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach) will host One U, a one-day event designed to encourage Philadelphia college students and young adults to live faithful Christian lives, academically, vocationally, and residentially.
Students from more than 20 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area will gather at Eastern University at 4:30 p.m. to spend the evening worshiping, praying, and engaging with featured speakers to consider what it means to be a college student and a community member.

The first session will feature Dr. H. Dean Trulear, Associate Professor of Theology at Howard University and President of Globe Community Ministries in Philadelphia. The second session will be a panel discussion on the ramifications of living out one's faith in vocations such as law, medicine, art, politics, and business. Panelists will include Stephen Fernands, Founder and President of Customized Energy Solutions; Tim Giershick, Artist and Art Handler/Collections Assistant, The Barnes Foundation; Tim Leaman, Physician, Esperanza Health Center; Lorina Marshall-Blake, Vice President of Government Relations, Independence Blue Cross, and Associate Minister, Vine Memorial Church; and Diane Slifer, Attorney with Blank Rome LLP.

PALESTINIAN ART DISPLAY AT LIBRARY THROUGH APRIL 25

Come see photos taken by EU student Adam Beach of Arab Palestinians who live in either the occupied Palestinian territories or are citizens of Israel. Most of the persons pictured are refugees. Prints are for sale. Adam Beach is an emerging photojournalist and student of Middle Eastern Studies and Cultural Anthropology. From May to July 2007 Adam traveled throughout the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Israel with EU students Megan Tahquette and Peder Wiegner photographing and filming various forms of nonviolent resistance against the Israeli occupation. Beach's photos will be part of a documentary film project set to be released in May, 2008. The film is called Handala and will be screened at film festivals and artistic venues on the East Coast and Midwest. Beach can be contacted at wagepeacebeach@ gmail.com. MAJOR AND MINOR DANCE PROGRAM AUDITIONS APRIL 19

Time: 2:30-4:30PM in the Dance Studio, Gym, St. Davids
This is a full class audition and interview for those auditioning for the dance major.  Dance minors also take this class for leveling purposes. The class will include modern dance, ballet and at least one major jazz combination.  Please bring appropriate dance shoes. No tights or socks, only bare feet will be allowed for modern.  Please wear dance clothing so your body can be seen. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL VACCINES BY APRIL 18Vaccine

Deadline for vaccination reservation through the Eastern University Student Health Center is April 18. Students with EU health insurance may receive their pre-travel physical and vaccines at no cost. Students with completed immunization records may be seen by the school doctor for a no cost pre-travel physical and vaccines at cost. Students may bring a prescription from their personal physician with specific vaccinations noted.  These vaccines will be given at cost:

Typhoid $55.00
Yellow Fever $70.00
Hepatitis A $60.00
Hepatitis B $60.00
Tetanus $35.00
Polio $30.00
Menomune $95.00

Please check the CDC travel-destination site as to which vaccines are recommended. For best effectiveness it is recommended that vaccines be administered at least 3 weeks before travel.The Student Health Center will be closed the months of June and July. MISSIONS TRIPS FOR 2008-2009

Philippines, May 11-27, 2008: Our arts-focused team will minister for two weeks among the very poor in urban and rural areas, working with a church that Prof. Bush pioneered 20 years ago.

Bolivia, May 12-27, 2008: Our team of 11 will return to Cochabamba to work with MAP, a comprehensive health agency.

Missions Forum, Oct. 22-24, 2008: Missions organizations and activities on campus, sponsored by Student Missions Fellowship (SMF).

New Orleans, Jan. 2-11, 2009: A team will do Hurricane Katrina relief and construction along the gulf coast with a local church and Habitat. Applications now available and are due Apr. 9.
