CALLING STUDENT ACTORS FOR VIDEO
The American Bible Society will be filming a short series of videos on our St. Davids campus July 18-20. They are trying to fill several roles for actors and production crew. Anyone interested must be available all three shooting days and should expect to be on set all day. Meals will be provided. These are PAID roles. STUDENT MOVE-IN DAY AUG. 23
It’s time to start thinking about the Fall Semester! The Alumni Office is coordinating the volunteers to help out on FIRST-YEAR STUDENT MOVE-IN DAY on Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and we want you to be a part of it. We are grateful for any time you can give to assist us in welcoming our new students and their families. You will receive a paper (on Move-In Day), with instructions, frequently asked questions with answers, and a campus map. Your Move-In Day responsibilities will include offering any assistance (directions, refreshments, etc.) or helping move their stuff from the car to their rooms. PLEASE CONTACT LAURA A. SUMMER FITNESS CENTER SCHEDULE
The Eastern University Fitness Center at St. Davids will be open from 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m. Monday-Friday for all Faculty, Staff, and Students who would like to work out during the day. These hours are effective now and will continue throughout the remainder of the summer. A valid E-Card must be shown for entry into the facility. HONORS FOR FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
EU Friends of the Library earned Honorable Mention from Friends of the Library USA (FOLUSA), which recognizes groups around the country for their print and electronic materials. Artist George Rothacker’s invitation to the Art Show at last fall’s Homecoming won Honorable Mention in Fundraising. Our redesigned brochure and response card (Patti Singleton, Communications Office) won Honorable Mention in Membership Brochures, and its accompanying membership letter written by Jim Rogers was praised as “eloquent and thought-provoking.” Visit www.folusa.org

Eastern University’s 100% wind energy achievement on the St. Davids campus is featured in the Sierra Club's first national report on faith community efforts to protect the environment: "Faith in Action: Communities of Faith Bring Hope for the Planet" released June 19. The report recognizes just one faith-based environmental initiative from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, including Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Unitarian and Interfaith/Multifaith efforts. Eastern's wind energy achievement represents the state of Pennsylvania.

MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT RATE INCREASES
If you use your vehicle for Eastern University related travel, please note that effective July 1, 2008, the reimbursement rate for mileage increases to 58.5 cents per mile. In recognition of recent gas price increases, the IRS made this special adjustment for the final months of 2008. The IRS normally updates the mileage rate once a year.

Haiti, Jan. 3-11, 2009: A team of 9 will partner with Beyond Borders for a Transformational Travel trip.
Dominican Republic, Feb 28 - Mar. 8, 2009: Our team will continue Eastern’s work in El Fondo with Food for the Hungry and Goshen Baptist. Applications available in September.
