PLANETARIUM CHRISTMAS SHOW DEC.19 and 20 TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ALL 8 P.M. SHOWS

star of bethlehemEastern University is proud to present its Star of Bethlehem Planetarium program on December 19 and 20 in the Julia Fowler Planetarium, McInnis Hall, on the St. Davids campus. The show is based around a dialog between an astronomer and his five-year-old daughter (played by Biology professor Maria Fichera’s daughter, Carina) who wants to know why we have certain Christmas traditions like mistletoe, candy canes, twelve days of Christmas, decorating houses with greenery, and  the Star of Bethlehem. Show times are 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night.

Tickets are by reservation only and are $5 per seat, pay at the door. The presentation will last about 45 minutes. To make reservations, send an e-mail to planet@eastern.edu or call 610.341.1390. HOLIDAY TIMECARDS SCHEDULE FOR FACULTY/STAFF

THIS IS FOR FACULTY AND STAFF ONLY (NOT STUDENTS). The first check date for January 2009 is the 2nd for the pay period covering 12/14/08-12/27/08.  All authorized timecards must be submitted early (based on scheduled hours) on Friday, December 19 by 4PM, and any adjustment for additional hours worked on not worked can be made on the following payroll cycle. Yes! And... presents The Clean Green Machine. Mother Nature has won a free vacation (and boy does she deserve it.) What happens when a group of well- mannered but ill-equipped youngsters is left at the helm? Will Mother Nature be reunited with a lost love? Will nature bite back? The only way to find out is to join us for this year's "A Winter Sort of Thing." January 29 at 7 p.m. and January 30 at 11:30 a.m. (schools) and 7 p.m. January 31 at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.; and February 1 at 3 p.m. McInnis Auditorium, St. Davids.   • Monday - Thursday   7:30am-4pm
    (closed 12:30pm-1pm for lunch)
  • Friday - 7:30am-3:30pm

The school doctor will also have new hours:

  • Monday-    10am-12:30pm
  • Tuesday-   1pm-3pm
  • Wednesday- 2pm-3pm
  • Thursday-  9:45am-11:45am

The Friends of the Marple Public Library invite you to a fascinating one-hour presentation about the famous Dr. Seuss book, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7:15 p.m. Prof. Joseph Edgette of Widener Univ. will explain the hidden meanings within the plot, and why this story has become part of the Christmas tradition. Free and open to the public. Recommended for families and children ages eight and older. A reception will follow with delicious desserts. MISSIONS TRIPS FOR 2008-2009

New Orleans, Jan. 2-11, 2009: A team will do Hurricane Katrina relief and construction along the Gulf  Coast with a local church and Habitat.

Haiti, Jan. 3-11, 2009: A team of 9 will partner with Beyond Borders for a Transformational Travel trip.

Dominican Republic, Feb 28 - Mar. 8, 2009: Our team will continue Eastern’s work in El Fondo with Food for the Hungry and Goshen Baptist. Applications available in September.

Habitat for Humanity, Feb 28 - Mar. 8, 2009: Two teams will tackle low-cost home construction in the U.S. over spring break. Applications available in the fall.
