SUPPORT A CHILD IN AFRICA
Drew Krupp, a student in Dr. Socci's SIFE class, reports that for as little as $280 a year, you can help support a child in Africa. Pagus Africa is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that works on projects that directly affect the lives of the people in Ghana, West Africa. Established in 1996, Pagus was originally founded as a nonprofit art gallery and community outreach program, but after years of recognizing the need, the organization extended its efforts to work in Ghana. The needs of the people in this region are great. People live on amazingly little, but their ambition to improve their conditions is great. There is little to no sanitation in many areas. Many of the rural villages lack access to clean water. Malaria and infant mortality are huge concerns. Many of the children cannot attend school or afford to eat two meals a day. Schools are being built for some children to attend. An okra farm has been built to help increase sustainability in the region. With the economic downturn, Pagus has suffered with donors backing out of their previous commitments. This means more children are unable to attend school and obtain two meals a day. Your money will be spent on:
• Tuition and related expenses to attend the Bishop Forson School
• Two meals per day
• Transportation to and from school if required.
• Basic medical care and transportation to medical facilities
• Parents are closely tied to the school community.
Our work with the children provides us with a wonderful opportunity to educate parents, too. For more information, visit, pagusafrica.org. To sponsor a child, contact Drew Krupp at dkrupp87@gmail.com.
