DR. KEITH WARD SPEAKS MARCH 17
The 2008-2009 Metanexus Senior Fellow Lecture Series co-sponsored by the Templeton Honors College of Eastern University presents “Why There Almost Certainly Is A God: Doubting Dawkins.” Dr. Keith Ward considers some of the Big Questions in Science and Religion. In this lecture, Dr. Ward addresses Richard “The God Delusion” Dawkin’s claim that there is no God. Ward considers the flaws in Dawkin’s arguments and makes a rational case for the existence of God. BOOK COLLECTING CONTEST DEADLINE APRIL 3
Presented by Eastern's Friends of the Library. FIRST PRIZE: $350; SECOND PRIZE: $200; THIRD PRIZE: $150. EU undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences are invited to collect books and share their interests with others. To enter, select 6-10 books from your collection. JONATHAN ORR ESSAY CONTEST DEADLINE APRIL 3
Presented by Friends of the Library. FIRST PRIZE: $500; SECOND PRIZE: $350; THIRD PRIZE: $250 Open to EU undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Essay Topic is: You are shipwrecked on a desert island. You find a waterproof case that has been washed ashore with tools, medicine, and a copy of the Bible. The case also contains three other books. What three books would you want on this island, and why? We will be looking for well-crafted essays that use correct spelling and good grammar. Length is 400-750 words. Essays must be the original work of the applicant. Entries must be submitted electronically to Jim Sauer at jsauer@eastern.edu. Winners will be invited to the annual Friends of the Library Dinner at Eastern University on Friday, April 17, to receive their award.

On March 18, the Alumni Office will celebrate its third annual Tuition Free Day from 11a.m.-2p.m. in the Dining Commons, St. Davids. This day honors all the people who have contributed to the education of current Eastern University students. Due to these generous gifts, tuition is “free” from this date on; our students receive a “hidden scholarship” every year. This event helps make us all aware of how far even a small gift can go and to thank our wonderful donors. PLANNING TO STUDY OFF CAMPUS?
All College of Arts and Sciences students who plan to spend a semester abroad or at a U.S.-based program must first submit an Eastern University Study Abroad/Away Clearance. Students will not be permitted to apply financial aid to any program unless they have an approved clearance on file. Deadlines are October 15 for spring semester and March 15 for fall semester. DELCO CONCERTS APRIL 5 AND MAY 3
The Delaware County Symphony will present the fourth concert of its Chamber Concert Series for the 2008-2009 season on Sunday, April 5, at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theatre at Neumann College, Aston, PA. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors/students, and free for children 12 and under with paying adult. There is ample free parking and the Center is handicapped-accessible. The program includes Mozart, Prokofiev, and Elgar. Commentary provided by Roman Pawlowski, Music Director.
