BE INSPIRED!
Laura A. Manger ’98, assistant director of Alumni Relations, writes: “One of my favorite authors is Max Lucado. He writes in Just Like Jesus, ‘Be diligent in your search. Be hungry in your quest, relentless in your pilgrimage.”
I am reminded of how the Christian walk is a journey. It’s not just a jog around the block, but a marathon. When we try to eat healthy every day and exercise on a regular basis, we see the benefits of our consistently healthy lifestyle. That’s how it is (or should be” with our faith journey. Spending time daily in prayer and devotion is crucial for our spiritual health. Paul writes in First Corinthians 9:24-25 about the race. He also writes in Philippians 3:12-14 about pressing on towards what is ahead.
During my senior year at Eastern I was a student chaplain. On our t-shirts was a quote from Mother Teresa ‘God does not demand that I be successful. God demands that I be faithful.’ This has become one of my favorite quotes. We are called to be faithful in our love for God and our family and friends…to do our best and be consistent in our words and actions.”
