New Item9-11 CANDLELIGHT SERVICE AT ST. DAVIDS

We will have our annual 9-11 Commemorative Service and Candle Lighting Friday evening, September 11 at 8:00 pm on the Men's Baseball field (rain location: Gough Hall Great Room).  This service is co-sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Student Chaplain program.  The themes for this service are Remembrance and Hope.  We hope that you will join us.  If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Joseph B. TONY CAMPOLO SPEAKS AT FALLS CENTER SEPT. 25

EU Urban Studies Dept. presents Dr. Tony Campolo speaking on "University-Community Partnerships in Social Transformation Efforts," on Friday, Sept.25, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the new Falls Center location, 3300 Henry Ave. in Phila., PA. Dr. Campolo, professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern, is the founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, an organization that develops schools and social programs in various third world countries and in cities across North America. He is also the author of over 35 books and a renowned motivational speaker. The general public is invited but seating is limited and is expected to fill up quickly. WRITING CENTER OPEN SEPT. 14

The Writing and Tutoring Centers at St. Davids open Monday, Sept. 14, for students in the College of Arts and Sciences.  The Writing Center, in Walton 205, will be open for appointments or drop-ins Sunday-Thursday 6-9 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Questions about the Writing Center? WHY EASTERN ROCKS VIDEO CONTEST

What would you do with an extra $1,000? That's what you could win in the Why Eastern Rocks Video Contest! It's open to the entire Eastern community of students in all programs and Schools, faculty, staff, Palmer Seminary, Esperanza, as well as student groups, organizations, and alumni. Videos should showcase Why Eastern Rocks for you. All EU subjects consistent with our mission of faith, reason and justice are welcome. ST. DAVIDS ORCHESTRA SOCIETY FORMING

This orchestra is now forming! It offers students and professionals the opportunity to study and perform standards and emerging orchestra literature in a friendly atmosphere. It creates bridges between Eastern University and the residents of St. Davids and surrounding communities. The orchestra will continue the relationship between David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, as the Artist in Residence at Eastern University. It fosters relationships between community orchestras- such as the “Side by Side” program with the Pottstown Symphony. BEATLES OCT. 23

LONDON AND PARIS TRIP 2010

PLANNING TO STUDY OFF-CAMPUS?

All Arts and Sciences students who plan to spend a semester abroad or at a U.S.-based program must first submit an Eastern University Study Abroad/Away Clearance.  Students will not be permitted to apply financial aid to any program unless they have an approved clearance on file.  Deadlines are October 15 for spring semester and March 15 for fall semester.  Please contact Lori Bristol (ext. 5010, lbristol@eastern.edu) in the Registrar's Office with questions or to pick up clearance packets.
