FREE MUSIC CONCERT NOV. 23

If you like music, come to McInnis Auditorium, St. Davids, at 10pm on Monday, Nov.  23.  Free admission. Hear Eastern band Between Blue, (myspace.com/betweenbblue) and the group She Was Loved, an acoustic folk band that was formed at The Contemporary Music Center in Martha's Vineyard.  The three artists who are showcased in this band are Amanda Kinney, Kelly Tabor and Hannah Smith. These women have combined folk, blues, and soul to create a very interesting and captivating sound. The Nursing Dept. is planning a Nursing/Medical Missions Trip to El Salvador for Spring Break. We are asking for your help in collecting over-the-counter medical supplies such as band aids, aspirin, antacids, first aid supplies, bug repellants containing DEET, anti-itch lotions, Pepto-Bismol, lip balm, sun screen, pocket packs of tissues, zip-lock baggies of all sizes, hand wipes, baby wipes, paper and pads, writing supplies, work gloves of all sizes, towels, washcloths, linen and pillowcases for twin size beds, etc. In addition, we are helping the Orphanage there. The boys and girls are 6-12 years old and need light clothes, baseball caps and bandanas, games, art supplies, colored pencils and pens, markers (not permanent), tape, glue sticks, puzzles,  popsicle sticks, children’s scissors, stickers, bubbles, jump ropes, jacks, marbles, maps, books, etc. (Anything written must be in Spanish, but games with just numbers or pictures are OK in English.) Collection boxes are in ELC Room 105 and in the Gatehouse, both at St. Davids.

CLASS AND TRIP TO ARGENTINA SPRING 2010

Register now for the Spring 2010 class and travel to Argentina during Spring break. YMin 330A - Cross-Cultural Mindset in Ministry, is available for registration. This class will meet on Wednesdays 4:30 to 7p.m. The emphasis is on serving in a cross-cultural environment and a nine-day trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, during Spring break. The cost has two main components: round trip to Argentina $1150 and local costs $650 (transportation, hotel and three meals). These costs are approximate. PLANNING TO STUDY OFF-CAMPUS?

All Arts and Sciences students who plan to spend a semester abroad or at a U.S.-based program must first submit an Eastern University Study Abroad/Away Clearance.  Students will not be permitted to apply financial aid to any program unless they have an approved clearance on file.  Deadlines are October 15 for spring semester and March 15 for fall semester.  Please contact Lori Bristol (ext. 5010, lbristol@eastern.edu) in the Registrar's Office with questions or to pick up clearance packets.
