Shorthanded Eagles can't outpace Marywood
With an already depleted bench shortened by another player down with illness,
the Eastern University women’s basketball team traveled to Scranton to take on
PAC North opponent Marywood Pacers. The Eagles battled early, but the Pacers’
superior depth and inside presence proved to much as the Eagles fell 64-47.
First year guard Emily Reeser helped the Eagles to keep things close early
with eight first half points, but the Pacers got 17 first half points on the
inside from first year standout Amanda Lass. The Pacers secured 10 offensive
rebounds in the first half and were able to build their advantage to 41-23 at
the break.
Raya Shores led an Eastern rally with 9 of her 14 points in the second half,
but the Eagles were never able to push the differential under 15 in the final
twenty minutes. Lass led all scorers with 22 points and 14 rebounds including
six on the offensive end of the floor. Reeser joined Shores in double figures
with 12 on the game, and Hannah Tobin led the Eastern effort on the boards with
10. The Eagles return to action with a home game Thursday night against
Immaculata.
