Eastern University Housing Process
Residency Requirement: All full-time, undergraduate, Arts & Sciences students who began at Eastern AFTER the Spring of 2006 are required to maintain residency as long as space is available. The Housing Process is the process by which students are able to select their room and roommates. Failure to participate in the Eastern University Housing Process will result in the Housing Office selecting a room and roommate for the student.
Students who began at Eastern BEFORE the Fall of 2006 are highly encouraged to maintain residency.
The Process for Eastern University Housing
- APPLY - All Current EU resident students will receive a personalized University Housing Form in their campus mailbox in late November. Students enrolled in University approved semester elsewhere programs must submit a form before they leave and make sure they ask someone to go through the process for them. All Deadlines must be honored.
- The form must be filled out completely and accurately and returned to the Student Development Office in person or by mail. Forms will be time/date-stamped and considered in the order they are received.
- Students submitting late forms or no form at all may lose their eligibility to select their own room and roommate.
- Students will be notified as to the status for their housing form via their Eastern University campus mailbox.
- DEPOSIT - Students will have to gain financial clearance and make the Housing Deposit in Student Accounts. Students should make the deposit as early as possible. It is up to each student to ascertain his/her eligibility to make the deposit and make sure the deposit has been accepted, well in advance of the deadline. At this time (Spring 2008) the housing deposit is $150 and is non-refundable. Refer to the Academic and Residence Life Calendar for dates. Personal checks are not accepted in the 2 weeks before the deadline. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO DEPOSIT!
- REGISTER - Students must register for classes for the following fall semester.
- PARTICIPATE in the LOTTERY and HOUSING SELECTION NIGHT - Students whose forms were on time, who make their housing deposit and register for classes for the fall semester by the deadlines, will be eligible to participate in the housing lottery and will receive an invitation and personalized lottery process information sheet via their campus mailbox.
To review, interested students must SUBMIT their FORM, then: DEPOSIT, REGISTER, and participate in the LOTTERY and HOUSING SELECTION in order to select their room and roommate, thereby securing University Housing.
All Housing Process deadlines are published in advance by November. Most dates are also published in the Academic & Residence Life Calendar which is posted in the previous spring.
