Chairperson
$1,150 Stipend

  • To meet with the three Committee Coordinators and the Coordinator of Student Activities to set the agenda  for weekly SAB meetings and discuss board operations
  • To schedule and preside over weekly meetings of the Student Activities Board
  • To ensure that proper minutes of each meeting are kept and distributed to all board members
  • To attend a majority of SAB events
  • To prepare weekly promotional materials such as the table tents and the Lower Walton reader board and to  oversee overall promotion of SAB events
  • To meet with SAB Committee Coordinators at least twice a month for long-term activities planning and  assessment of SAB operations
  • To work with Committee Coordinators to organize delegation of event planning and implementation of tasks
  • To confirm completion of activities planning and implementation of tasks
  • To work with the Coordinator of Student Activities to develop and update Task Sheets for each student  event that provide a checklist for all stages of event planning and implementation
  • To encourage and work closely with student organizations to sponsor events
  • To encourage new and creative programming ideas by the SAB
  • To keep the Activities Board informed and updated on all Student Government Association and campus  information of which he/she is aware
  • To keep complete records of all Student Activities Board business and publicity
  • To coordinate recruitment and operation the Student Activities Association
  • To enroll and successfully complete INST 300 (2 credits) - Leadership Development: A Practicum for  Current Student Leaders - in the fall semester
  • To complete other tasks as requested by the Director of Student Activities

Entertainment Coordinator
$1,050 Stipend

  • To oversee the planning and implementation of all dances and other events affiliated with the Entertainment  Committee. Dances are the primary responsibility, but other responsibilities may vary throughout the year
  • To act as a liaison between the SAB and campus groups, including but not limited to: all student  organizations, resident assistants, student chaplains, hall councils, staff, faculty, and administration
  • To meet with the SAB Chair, the other Committee Coordinators and the Coordinator of Student Activities  weekly to discuss board operations and set an agenda for the weekly SAB meeting
  • To meet with SAB Chair and Committee Coordinators at least twice a month for long-term activities planning  and assessment of SAB operations
  • To work with the SAB Chair and Activities Coordinator to design and administer at least one major survey  per semester targeting the campus at large in addition to specific campus groups, compiling the data, and  reporting it to the SAB
  • To help with the implementation and planning of all SAB-sponsored programs
  • To complete other tasks as requested by the Director of Student Activities      
DANCES   
  • To encourage and work closely with student organizations to sponsor dances
  • To reserve the location for each dance
  • To arrange all sound system and DJ need
  • To determine dance themes and coordinate decorations
  • To recruit and coordinate a crew of volunteers to complete all dance-related tasks
  • To properly advertise the event at least two weeks in advance

Performing Arts Coordinator
$1,050 Stipend

  • To work with the SAB Chair & Activities Coordinator to design and administer at least one major survey per  semester targeting the campus at large in addition to specific campus groups, compiling the data, and  reporting it to the SAB
  • To be open to suggestions from the Activities Board and the student body
  • To help with the implementation and planning of all SAB-sponsored programs
  • To complete other tasks as requested by the Director of Student Activities 

CONCERTS

  • To research potential concert dates and artists availability for Eastern Concerts
  • To defer final contract negotiations to the Coordinator of Student Activities  
  • With Artist:
    • to secure lodging for performer
    • to arrange all transportation to and from airports and lodging
    • to welcome the artist to campus
    • o host the artist while on campus (dinners etc.)
  • To organize and assign committee members to help artist load/unload equipment before/after concert
  • To organize and assign committee members as door guards, tickets takers, and concession sellers during  concert
  • To be prepared to make concert introductions
  • To work with ITSC in getting the necessary equipment for the concert (lighting, microphone, etc.)     

COFFEEHOUSES

  • Responsible for providing a place for students to rest and listen to campus entertainment periodically  throughout the semester
  • Responsible for contacting house cleaning two weeks in advance, so stage equipment can be provided and set up
  • To provide refreshments or recruit campus organizations to sell refreshments at coffeehouse
  • To recruit performers and have an open sign-up sheet
  • To make sure all publicity is provided a week or more in advance for each performance night
  • To contact media services so the following equipment will be provided: sound technician, lights,  microphones, sound equipment

Publicity Manager
$700 Stipend

  • To meet with the SAB Leadership Team (SAB Chair, Committee Coordinators, and Publicity Manager) and  the Director of Student Activities weekly to discuss board operations and set an agenda for the weekly  SAB meeting
  • To conduct on-going assessment of the Student Activities program and determine long-range plans for both  the current and upcoming academic years
  • To work with the SAB Leadership Team to design and administer at least one major survey per semester  targeting the campus at large in addition to specific campus groups, compile the data, and report it to the  SAB
  • To coordinate an overall student activities program that involves multiple constituencies and serves diverse  student interests
  • To seek event partnerships with other campus groups, including the Student Government Association,  student ministries, student clubs, and academic departments
  • To ensure all activities they coordinate are planned sufficiently in advance to allow for proper publicity and  implementation
  • To reserve on- and off-campus venues for events. On-campus events must be scheduled through the EU  Scheduling Office
  • To encourage new and creative programming ideas by the SAB
  • To recruit SAB volunteers and provide them with meaningful involvement in the planning and implementation  of SAB events
  • To request any money needed for events at least two weeks before it is needed, and to keep all receipts  and keep records of all expenses. If admission or other fees are collected from students, the money must  be carefully tracked and either given to the Director of Student Activities or deposited in the appropriate  SAB account
  • To complete an Activity Archival Record Form (AARF) for each event they coordinate and submit it to the  SAB chair for their review
  • To help with the implementation and planning of all SAB-sponsored programs

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE PUBLICITY MANAGER

  • To oversee the overall coordination of marketing and publicity for all SAB events by working closely with the  Committee Coordinators and SAB Chair. Advertising should be planned from a long-term perspective that  allows for adequate advance publicity
  • To assure completion of regular publicity media including, but not limited to: Walton display cases, video  monitors administered by ITSC, the Waterwheel, and campus flyers while also using various types of  advertisements such as McInnis Window, posters, sidewalk chalk, etc.
  • The Publicity Manager should assume primary responsibility for the Walton display cases, but other tasks  may be delegated to members of the sponsoring committee for each event
  • To complete other tasks as requested by the SAB Chair

Special Events Coordinator
$1,050 Stipend

  • To meet with the SAB Chair, the other Committee Coordinators and the Director of Student Activities  weekly to discuss board operations and set an agenda for the weekly SAB meeting

  • To work with the SAB Chair and Activities Director to design and administer at least one major survey  per semester targeting the campus at large in addition to specific campus groups, compiling the data, and  reporting it to the SAB

ON-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

  • To create, organize, and implement a variety of co-curricular activities and events in an effort to provide  social, recreational, spiritual, cultural, and developmental programs of value for the Eastern University  student body
  • To organize events that are open to all diverse cultures
  • To schedule campus activities with sensitivity to other organizations on campus and in coordination with the  campus calendar
  • To work closely with the Chair and the Director of Student Activities
  • To be open to all SAB and student/faculty suggestions
  • Has to have an open creative mind; also must be willing to research other activities to ensure a wide variety of activities throughout the year 

FILMS

  • To research potential film dates and film availability
  • To order films for the SAB and other student organizations
  • To encourage student organizations and faculty to sponsor films, with an emphasis on adding a  developmental or educational component to the event
  • To deliver the film to Media Services prior to its showing
  • To arrange film announcements and introductions as necessary
  • To insure that the film is returned by mail to the film company on the day following the film viewing
  • To collect the admission fee and return it to the Student Activities Office

OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

  • To research off-campus activities that appeal to the interests of the student body in general and to limited  interest groups as well
  • To create, organize, and implement a variety of co-curricular activities and events in an effort to provide  social, recreational, spiritual, cultural, and developmental programs of value for the Eastern University  student body
  • To meet weekly in order to communicate between the different areas of responsibility within the activities  board, to coordinate the scheduling of events, to assign staffing responsibilities for upcoming events and to  encourage creativity, suggestions, and criticisms
  • To have all necessary transportation reserved at least two weeks in advance
