Leadership Fellows Program

Not to be served but to serve .. Matthew 20:28

The Leadership Fellows Program (LFP) is designed to help prepare Eastern University students for future leadership roles in the struggle to address the world's great needs. Through education, experience, training and mentoring, students learn how to identify their leadership styles, improve communication skills, plan effectively, and inspire others as Christ-centered servant leaders.

Leadership Fellows Grants are available for 40 entering students who have demonstrated their leadership and academic potential through high school, church or community activities. Grants are for $16,000 a year and are renewable annually if all program requirements have been met.

Students in the LFP are required to take two classes, Introduction to Leadership (INST100) in the fall of their first year, and Leadership Practicum (INST300) while they hold a major leadership position on campus. Serving as a leader on campus either sophomore or junior year is the other major requirement of the program. Entering and senior students attend a retreat before the school year begins, and all returning students participate in a Winter Day event at the beginning of the second semester. Upperclass students are expected to mentor entering students. Additionally, LFP students must maintain a GPA of 3.0.

Applicants are admitted to the LFP on the basis of their leadership during their high school years, as well as their academic abilities. All areas of activity are represented in the LFP, including student government, clubs, arts, media, sports and church organizations. Minimum GPA is 3.3 for admission. Although SAT or ACT scores must be reported and may be considered in the admissions process, there is no specific minimum required score.
