Sports Participation
At least a quarter of each LFP cohort is likely to be involved in varsity sports at EU. The position of captain of a sports team can serve as a leadership position for LFP, however most captains are not selected until senior year. Thus most LFP participants who are athletes serve in some other way. Because of this, we prefer applicants to the leadership program to have more than one interest!
In 2010-2011, athletic leaders of LFP have served as captains of women's volleyball, baseball, tennis and golf teams and as members of the men's and women's soccer teams and men's lacrosse and basketball. Maria Horning, Volleyball Captain, earned the Award of Excellence as top female athlete. She was also named Academic All-American Athlete of the Year in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Junior Baseball Captain Scott Renauro was the EU athlete selected to attend NCAA Leadership Forum in Orlando, FL.
