The Class of 1961 at their 50th Reunion

50th Reunion Weekend: May 13-14, 2011

Twenty-one alumni from the Class of 1961 celebrated their golden reunion the weekend of May 13th -14th on Eastern's campus. After a warm greeting from President Dr. David Black, and Director of Alumni and Church Relations, Mary (Chaplin) Gardner '83, alumni and their spouses took a tour around campus, which many had not seen in 50 years! Following the tour, there was a dinner at the General Warren Inne where memories and laughs were shared. Saturday morning, the class gathered in Walton Hall for breakfast with a prayer led by Chaplain, Dr. Joseph Modica. The class then led the Commencement processional to Olson Field ahead of the Class of 2011. After the ceremony, the reunion weekend was wrapped up with a luncheon with President Black. Congratulations to the Class of 1961!

Tuition Free Day: March 23, 2011

Tuition Free Day 2011There is greater awareness on our campus that the students are not the only ones who contribute financially to their education. Tuition Free Day has become an annual celebration in March to celebrate the gifts that YOU give back to Eastern and the Eastern Fund. On March 23rd, there was a party in the Dining Commons to celebrate the day the student-paid tuition stops and when donations made by alumni, faculty, staff, and friends assist with the remaining part of the semester. As the students entered Dining Commons, they were greeted by the Alumni Office. There were trivia questions and, of course, cake. The students signed a huge thank you card for the Class of 1961; it was presented to them at their 50th reunion in May. The 50th Reunion class represents all the alumni who give back to the current students though the Eastern Fund. Thank you for what you give to our students - no matter the size of your gift, it does make a difference to our students.

Homecoming & Family Weekend: October 9, 2010

Homecoming and Family Weekend 2010Homecoming 2010 was held on a beautiful fall day in October. The Alumni Registration tent and Alumni Tailgating Truck were busy all day, as hundreds of alumni came "home" to Eastern. At the Annual Alumni Luncheon, Alumna of the Year, Carol (Hill) Tatta '84 was honored along with our Lamplight Society Award winners, Dr. Helen Loeb, and Nancy (Scheuer) Hill '87, MS '01. Jeremy Gudgeon '03, Chairman of the Alumni Council, prepared a moving video tribute to our honorees. During the afternoon, the hill was full of alumni and families browsing the student club tables and spectators taking in the men's soccer game. The day concluded with a 3-0 win for the Eastern Eagle's against Wilkes.

Alumni-Employee Lunch: September 23, 2010

Alumni-Employee Lunch 2010On September 23, 2010, the Alumni Office had its annual Alumni-Employee Luncheon. All current employees, who are also alumni of Eastern's undergraduate or graduate programs, or of Palmer Theological Seminary,  are invited to this luncheon each year. The  luncheon is a great way to get to know other alumni-employees and enjoy a great meal! This year, our guest speaker was Graham Thorpe '01, who now works in the Eastern Development Office as the Director of Donor Relations. The luncheon was held in the Gough Hall Great Room.
