Absenteeism Due to Illness Policy
The Health Center nurse or physician will not provide written excuses for missed classes unless a student is sent home for a week or more. Students are responsible for contacting their professors when illness prevents them from attending class or exams. The Health Center will only verify that a student has received treatment when requested by a professor.
If an extended illness forces a student to go home for a week or more, the Health Center should be advised with a physicians note. The Health Center will advise the Dean of Students to notify appropriate faculty.
Confidentiality
Except in the case of a life-threatening emergency, the Health Center will not release information to anyone including parents, family, police, employers, faculty or administrators, unless the student provides consent.
Medication Administration
The Health Center will not administer any type of oral medication to a student. Those who arrive with or are prescribed oral medication must self-medicate independently in order to live on campus.
Allergy injections will be done at the Health Center with a physician's written order. The fee is $5.00 per visit, and must be completed during physicians scheduled hours (see these on website). Plan to spend 1/2 hr. for this procedure.
