Reporting to the Department Chair of the School of Leadership and Development, the Faculty of Non-Profit Management at Eastern University is a full-time tenure track faculty position in non-profit management beginning January 2008. This is a leadership position in the program. The primary duties involve teaching, curriculum development and student mentoring at the graduate level for Eastern University’s non-profit programs. Additional responsibilities involve recruitment of students, overseeing curriculum and adjunct faculty, as well as maintaining program presence in Washington, DC and central Pennsylvania. Rank is commensurate with experience, both academic and professional.

A commitment to integrating Christian faith into the teaching is a must. A strong candidate will have solid adult education experience and non-profit professional experience. Position Responsibilities
1. Teach courses in the program in areas of specialization.
a. Teach in the MS in Non-profit Management and the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership (Non-profit concentration) programs. While the standard teaching load is 24 credit hours (generally eight three-credit courses), actual course load will be determined in conjunction with the Department Chair and is contingent upon administrative responsibilities.
b. Integrate the discipline of specialization and courses with issues of faith, reason and justice.
2. Advise prospective, enrolled and graduated students in their academic, professional and spiritual development consistent with Eastern University’s commitment to a holistic gospel and education.
a. Respond to prospective students and general inquiries in a systematic and timely fashion and with concern to help each student discern their gifts and calling.
b. Guide students in making academic choices in the registration process and in the Orientation.
c. Communicate to students the functions of the college's support services, including financial aid, student accounts, registrar's office, career services, library support, and other staff.
d. Counsel students in making career decisions.
e. Take the lead in matters requiring counseling or conflict resolution, engaging professionals as needed.
3. Produce scholarship in the discipline of specialization, integrating Christian faith with the theory and practice of the discipline.
4. Provide leadership and guidance to the curriculum development of non-profit management programs.
a. Develop courses in electronic and non-traditional delivery formats.
b. Oversee curriculum development, and work with adjunct practitioner-scholars.
c. Regularly assess and update program curriculum.
5. Represent Eastern University at industry related conferences when requested. Meet with prospective students to share about the programs when requested.
6. Participate on one standing committee, consistent with general University service expectations and occasional other task forces and temporary assignments.
7. Accommodate a work schedule that permits both day and evening involvement as required by the program’s instructional schedule and the weekends when the cohorts are in session.
8. Attend Commencement and Convocation ceremonies and mandatory faculty functions and participate in other university functions as appropriate.

Status: Faculty, tenure-track, full-time, 9 months.
This position is intended for a faculty-leader possessing an earned doctorate in management or related field with a focus on non-profit organizations (final stages of completion of a terminal degree may be considered). He or she will exhibit a strong record of and commitment to teaching and scholarly/creative achievement. Preferably, he or she will have the ability to contribute to the development of doctoral programs in leadership as well as experience or at least an interest and willingness to be trained to advise dissertations. In addition, proven ability and willingness to mentor promising graduate and PhD students is ideal.
Further, the ideal candidate will have made leadership, management and or organizational development a principal area of research, study and or professional activity, keeping abreast of best practices in this field. He or she will demonstrate strong working knowledge and professional experience in the non-profit sector. Adult education skills and distance education teaching experience are preferred as is the ability to contribute to the curriculum development needs in the areas of leadership, organizational development, and management.
Overall, the candidate should be willing to represent Eastern in industry related networking opportunities and assist in recruiting efforts. This will require working collaboratively both internally and with Eastern’s organizational partners. Also, the candidate will need to be willing and able to teach a non-traditional schedule, including weekend residencies in Washington, D.C. and other locations and perhaps residencies overseas for 1-2 week periods two or three times per year.
Finally, candidates must be aligned theologically with the doctrinal statement of the University and sincerely and enthusiastically affirm the mission and vision of the University. She or he should demonstrate commitment to the Kingdom values that mark SLD and Eastern's core values and ministry ideals. Further, the desired candidate should possess the ability to integrate Christian faith into teaching.
