The Department of Chemistry at Eastern University is offering a full-time tenure track faculty position to begin August 2008. A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry is required. Candidates need a strong interest in teaching and conducting research projects with undergraduates, and a desire to advance the mission of the university. Teaching responsibilities include the year-long sequence of organic chemistry lecture and laboratories, advanced organic in alternate years, and an introductory organic/biochemistry course.
The Chemistry Department at Eastern offers degrees in B.S. Chemistry, B.S. Biochemistry and B.A. Chemistry-Business. The organic chemistry courses support these majors as well as majors in biology, biological studies, environmental studies, pre-physical therapy, and both elementary and secondary education. Instrumentation includes 300 MHz FT-NMR, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPLC, FPLC, AAS, SEM, and diode array UV-Vis.
