The School of Management Studies (SMS) within Eastern University’s Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CCGPS) offers quality education integrated with Christian values which prepare working adults to achieve professional goals, clarify personal faith, and demonstrate effective, ethical leadership.  SMS is seeking a Chair of the school, who will also serve as Lead Faculty for the MBA program in SMS.  The Chair provides leadership and management of the SMS team and has oversight of the academic programs within the school.

Position Responsibilities:
Administrative
1. Develops, articulates, and presents a vision for SMS.  Translates this vision into strategic goals by developing an assessment plan related to the University’s mission and strategic planning objectives.
2.  Serves as administrative leader of the school or department in calling and presiding over department meetings, interpreting administrative policies to members of the department, and making reports to the administration as a result of such meetings.
3.  In collaboration with the Director of Academic Budgeting provides  input and supervision on the preparation of the departmental and program-specific budgets, aligning departmental resources with program priorities and opportunities.
4.  Directs the continuous development of the MBA curriculum.
5. Promotes and directs the professional growth of members of the faculty (full-time, part-time, and adjunct).
6. Assists in the development of the academic, social and spiritual dimensions of the faculty, staff and students.
7. Oversees the hiring and orientation process for new full, affiliate, and adjunct faculty.
8. Oversees Department professional memberships and representation at professional meetings.
9. Collaborates with Administrative leadership in developing the academic programs and priorities of CCGPS.
Academic
1.  Teaches courses as part of assigned load.
2.  Pursues a scholarly agenda of inquiry, presentation, and publication.

Status: Full-time, eleven month contract, tenure track. (Rank for tenure track faculty will be based on the candidate’s education and professional experience as well as the needs of the University).

Required credentials: Ph.D. or D.B.A. in a business discipline; extensive teaching experience (preferably teaching adult students), an established record of scholarship and demonstrated excellence in a leadership position in the business disciplines.  Eastern is a Christian institution in the evangelical tradition.  Applicants must have a religious commitment compatible with our mission.

Preferred credentials: Demonstrated potential to contribute significantly to the development of faith-informed curricula in the business disciplines; proven ability to collaborate with internal and external constituents; computer literacy (particularly in MS Office); excellent administrative skills and experience with office management; and proven ability to communicate, both in written and oral form, to a broad constituency.
