The Instructional Designer and Communications Assistant assists the School of Leadership and Development (SLD) in the research, development, production and maintenance of multimedia resources for SLD course and curriculum materials, marketing collateral as well as provide support on various marketing and communications initiatives.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Assists the Instructional Designer with development of course materials for distance education delivery in various formats including web, print, CD and DVD.
2. Assists the Director of Advancement & Administration in all aspects of marketing and communications including production of multimedia collateral for marketing purposes in collaboration with CCGPS and University objectives.
3. Video Production: Assists in filming and production of events and related video opportunities. Maintain indexed, searchable catalogue of SLD’s digital and analog video resources for clips for use in course development, the classroom and various marketing initiatives. Edit, keyword tag, encode, file and save these resources to DVD and / or CD-ROM and various online streaming media hosting centers as well as for output to various media devices. Provide periodic updates regarding these resources.
4. Audio Editing: Maintains indexed, searchable cataloging of SLD’s digital and analog audio resource library for audio clips for use in course development and in the classroom. Edit, keyword tag, encode, file and save these resources to DVD and / or CD-ROM and various online streaming media hosting centers as well as for output to various media devices. Provide periodic updates regarding these resources.
5. Provides Blackboard support in collaboration with the University’s Blackboard support structure to SLD.
6. Course Materials: Tracking syllabi used and keeping digital copies of the syllabi.
a. Format course materials by following a designed template
b. Proofreading all text for spelling and grammar errors
c. Create workbook pages out of visuals and handouts normally utilized in a classroom
d. Preparation of course materials by scanning articles and book
e. Obtaining and organizing copyright information for all periodicals and books used in the readers
7. Curriculum Library:
a. Maintains the curriculum library
b. Updates and catalogues new materials
8. Web Site Maintenance: Assists with maintenance and updates of SLD web site and related portal web sites.
9. Events: Assists with planning, organization, communication and sometimes filming of events which may require travel with occasional weeknight or weekend coverage.
10. Special Projects as required.
Status: Staff, full-time, 40 hours per week (8:30-5 p.m. M-F), 52 weeks per year
Education, Knowledge and Skills Required:
a. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Design And Communications background a plus. Consideration will be given to relevant technical background and industry experience. (Preferred)
b. Demonstrated commitment to the Kingdom values that mark SLD and Eastern's core values and ministry ideals. (Preferred)
c. Proficient on both MAC and PC platforms. Familiarity with video editing, graphics and web authoring software. Preferred software includes Photoshop, Flash, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker; Adobe software suite; SoundForge; Roxio Media Creator; Microsoft Word. (Preferred)
d. Video Journalism exposure or background a plus. (Preferred)
e. Comfortable with document scanning; spelling and, grammar skills; experience with document templates and formatting preferred, etc. (Essential)
f. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. (Essential)
g. Fluency in Spanish a plus. (Preferred)
h. Ability to read and interpret documents such as curriculum guides, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. (Essential)
i. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. (Essential)
j. Applicant must be detail oriented. (Essential)
k. Self starter with ability to see projects and tasks through to completion. (Essential)
l. Ability to speak effectively before groups. (Preferred)
