Eastern University Commencement May 10

St. Davids, PA, April 11, 2014: Eastern University will hold its two May Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10, on the campus at 1300 Eagle Road in St. Davids, PA, 19087. The morning Commencement at 10 AM will be held for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The afternoon Commencement at 2:30 PM will be held for students in the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies and Esperanza College.

The Commencement speaker is Dr. Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) in Washington, D.C., an association of over 40 denominations with a constituency in the tens of millions. He is the pastor emeritus of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN, where he served as senior pastor from 1977 through 2011. This is a large church that not only ministers to thousands in metropolitan Minneapolis, but has also served as a teaching and laboratory church to others across the nation.          

Speaking frequently at conferences, Dr. Anderson has traveled to all seven continents and has been interviewed by publications and broadcasts including The New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, PBS, the BBC, NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio, CNN and others. His articles have been published in many periodicals and he has written or co-authored 20 books including Dying For Change; A Church For The Twenty-First Century; Winning The Values War; Praying To The God You Can Trust; Leadership That Works; Becoming Friends With God; Jesus: An Intimate Portrait of the Man, His Land, and His People; How to Act Like a Christian; The Jesus Revolution; and Faith Matters.

He earned his BA in sociology at Bradley University in Peoria, IL; his master of divinity at Denver Seminary in Denver, CO; and his doctor of ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He is receiving the honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Eastern University.  

Leith Anderson's many interests include pastoring, teaching, writing, speaking, and leadership. He and his wife, Charleen, have four children and make their home in Eden Prairie, MN.
