How do I configure Windows 98 / 2000 / XP for PPP dial-up Access?

 STEP 1.

Launch the "Get on the Internet" program by clicking with the mouse on the Start button, then Programs, then Accessories, then Communications, then Internet Connection Wizard.
This will bring up the Internet Connection Wizzard window.

STEP 2.

Select "I need to set up an internet connection manually" then hit next.

STEP 3.

At the "Setting up your Internet Connection" screen, select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" then hit next.

STEP 4.

Type in the Area Code and Phone Number of the Eastern University Server you are dialing into. If you do not know the number, call the computer center at 610-341-5821 to receive the number (*note, the 341-5821 line is not a data line so do not try inserting this number in the field). 

Then click on Advanced and in the window that pops up click on the addresses tab.  Under DNS server address, click on Always use the following, and insert "204.78.0.198" into the Primary DNS Blank and hit ok

STEP 5.

Enter your username and your e-mail password (if you do not enter a password it will prompt you for it each time you try to connect):

STEP 6.

Name your new connection "Eastern University" and hit next 

STEP 7.

Select No for setting up an Internet Mail account now.  Eastern University Recommends using Netscape Communicator 7.2 for e-mail.  This program can be downloaded from Netscape server by clicking on Netscape Communicator7.2.  Installation and Configuration instructions are available on Eastern's Tech Support site for Netscape Communicator.

STEP 8.

Now Hit finish to Save your PPP Dial-up Configuration:
