Library Cards

The E-card issued to members of the Eastern Community is used as a library card to borrow materials. Our library staff  will  issue borrowing cards on request to outside borrowers 18 years or older, and to members of the Friends of the library.  Alumni may have access to the library and off campus databases by joining the Alumni association. 

Circulation Periods

Materials may be borrowed from the collection for the following periods. Two renewals for Eastern books are allowed;  one renewal for E-Z Borrow books.

Fines

Books: Fines for books are 25 cents per day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Maximum fines reach $20.00 per item.
Media: Fines for Media Room Materials are 25 cents per day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Maximum fines reach $20.00 per item.
Reserves: Fines for overdue reserve materials are 25 cents per hour, including hours the Library is closed. Maximum fines reach $20.00 per item.
Interlibrary Loan: Fines for unreturned Interlibrary Loan books will be $2.00 per day, with a maximum fine of $80.00 payable to Eastern University.  A Penalty fee for lost Interlibrary Loans will be $80; as well as the cost designated by the lending institution.  Interlibrary loan fines and fees will be levied against students, faculty, and administrators.
 
If a library fine is not paid by the end of the semester, fines will be charged against the student's regular school bill. Overdue notices are sent as soon as material is overdue; failure to receive a notice does not excuse the borrower from responsibility.

Interlibrary Loans

Almost 55,000,000 items are available through the OCLC database. The library charges no fee for this service. Requests can also be made online through our library homepage. Direct interlibrary loan can be made through the PALCI E-Z Borrow system. Intra-campus loans to the Palmer Theological Seminary can be obtained within 48 hours.
