Books and Reference Materials
The strength of our collection lies in the basic areas of traditional theological education: Old Testament, New Testament, theology, and church history. Special emphasis is placed on the areas of Baptist history and doctrines, missiology, ecumenics, church renewal, urban ministry, and justice issues. The J. Pius Barbour Black Studies Collection and the Santiago Soto-Fontanez Hispanic Theological Collection are now part of deBlois Library’s general collection.
Most Reference books are located in the Library’s resource area. The circulating stacks and bound periodicals are currently not accessible to the public. Patrons may use the online catalog to search for desired materials. These will be retrieved at regular intervals.
Journal Search Databases
Journal research databases of particular interest to Seminary students include ATLA/ATLASerials Religion Database, Religious & Theological Abstracts, Old Testament Abstracts, and New Testament Abstracts. These databases index journal articles and book essays, providing citations, abstracts, and often full texts.
Current Seminary students, faculty and staff may access these databases and many other electronic resources through the EU Libraries Databases webpage. Use your Blackboard account to access databases from off campus, or visit Databases for Off-Campus Users (EZ Proxy).
