Palmer’s Eastern School of Christian Ministry (ESCM) program provides a flexible, affordable, and high quality theological education for those who choose not to pursue, or who may not be eligible for a graduate theological degree. The ESCM program offers two diploma programs in Pastoral Studies and Biblical and Theological Studies, and three certificate programs in Biblical StudiesChristian Leadership, and Christian Studies.

Explore the MDiv/ MA in International Development Program

In partnership with Eastern University, students can earn an MA in International Development (urban or international concentration). Students in this program choose one of two concentrations.  The Urban Concentration is for those who desire to serve in an urban context, while the International Concentration is for those interested in development work in rural areas or in some other context outside a major city. Students who pursue this degree apply their skills of ministry in the marketplace, the mission field, developing the community, and a host of other vocational opportunities.

This distinctive dual degree program represents the Seminary's longstanding commitment to holistic ministry, ministry that addresses spiritual, emotional, social and material needs. The MBA portion of the program, offered at Eastern University, is intentionally contextualized to issues in the two-thirds world and to issues in urban areas of the U.S.  Students pursuing this dual degree choose one of two concentrations. The International Concentration is for those who envision working outside the U.S. either in a city or some other context. Explore the Master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity (MDIV) degree is the standard degree required by many church denominations prior to ordination to pastoral ministry. Palmer Seminary prepares pastors for ministry in several different denominations. Students take the same core courses, then move on to upper-level courses that address denominational requirements. However, not all who earn the MDIV go on to pastoral ministry. The MDIV also prepares men and women for a variety of ministry-oriented vocations

The Minor in Christian Thought at Eastern is designed to allow students to simultaneously pursue majors in other academic departments in the University while enabling them to capitalize on the rich offerings of the Department of Theology in Biblical Studies, Theology, and Spirituality. BA in Philosophy

The philosophy major at Eastern University has a backbone of studies in the history of philosophy, with a sequence of courses in Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Continental philosophy, as well as a course in Epistemology and Metaphysics that focuses on recent Anglo-American philosophy.  Another cluster of courses clusters around inquiry into the good and the beautiful:  Faith and Philosophy, Christian Sexual Ethics, Ethics and Justice, and Philosophy and Literature.
