Multicultural Student Initiative

Mission

The Purpose of the Multicultural Student Initiative is to create cultural awareness and a safe environment where every student can learn from and celebrate diversity through cultural pluralism in education, activities, dialogue, and programs. logo

Goals and Objectives

Create a community advisory committee made up of students and staff; reflective of the entire campus community
Collaborate with the Student Activities Coordinator
Work with the Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) and make recommendations to improve current climate
Collaborate with campus organizations to plan and implement cultural awareness events that are inclusive of all students for the benefit of celebrating diversity
Recognize and award departments and individuals in the EU community, nominated by the MAC, who have demonstrated the value of diversity
Measure outcomes of programs through student surveys and evaluations
Initiate student discussion groups on cultural sensitivity
Collaborate with Endure to support mentor opportunities for students of diverse cultural backgrounds
Create a sense of diversity awareness through visual effects on campus through art, posters, pictures, and history bits.
Host panel discussions with external speakers to present and discuss various topics that will assist with understanding the benefits of celebrating diversity
