Eastern University Nursing Program Ranked Number Eight in Pennsylvania

St. Davids, PA, April 10, 2017: Eastern University’s Nursing program has been named one of the top 10 best nursing programs in Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.org. Eastern was ranked number 8 out of 30 with a score of 93.95 out of 100. The 76 RN programs in Pennsylvania were reviewed for the ranking. Eastern’s score puts it ahead of other Pennsylvania schools on the list such as Temple, Villanova College of Nursing, Penn State University-College of Nursing and Penn Nursing Science-University of Pennsylvania.

Julie Haggan, a junior in the Eastern nursing program has stated, “Knowing that the nursing program at Eastern has recently achieved this recognition is exciting to me and my classmates. We feel confident and empowered by our professors to be able to soon enter the professional healthcare community. It is encouraging to know that students who have graduated from this program in recent years have found the successes that they have and that we are being well prepared to follow in their footsteps.”

RegisteredNursing.org is a website started by Brooke Wallace, a registered nurse herself, with the goal of providing those interested in becoming a nurse the tools to find the best program for them.  According to Ms. Wallace “Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. For example, we analyzed past and present NCLEX-RN “pass-rates” weighted by year.” The NCLEX are developed and administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) every year and must be passed to become a licensed nurse in the United States.

Dianne DeLong, the chair of the Eastern University nursing program said, “It was great to see that EU Nursing Program has been recognized by RegisteredNursing.org for our NCLEX-RN pass rates. Their site provides a venue for prospective students who are deciding if nursing is for them and the best way to go about choosing the right school. This ranking is a testament of the hard work and dedication of the students guided by faculty in meeting the demands of high stakes testing.”

The department of nursing's traditional pre-licensure nursing program at Eastern University prepares undergraduate nursing students for thoughtful and productive lives of Christian faith, leadership and service as generalist nurses and members of the global nursing community.
