EU GRAD APPOINTED TO BURN FOUNDATION BOARD

Fire Marshal J. Lee Fulton Has History of Advancing Fire Safety

St. Davids, PA, August 26, 2008: The Burn Foundation, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that provides education, prevention resources, community support of burn treatment, and helps facilitate enhanced quality of life for burn survivors, has announced the appointment of J. Lee Fulton, Ph.D., to its board of directors. Fulton earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern University, his master’s from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Ph.D. from Warren National University.

A resident of Springfield, Delaware County, PA., he has been the township’s chief fire marshal for 25 years, and is also currently the assistant director of emergency services for Delaware County.  Fulton also serves on the faculty of Delaware County Community College, where he teaches in the fire sciences technology program, and Eastern University.  For 26 years at PECO, he worked to improve fire protection at the organization and in the community. Fulton has served on the executive board of the Pennsylvania Fire Services Institute and the national advisory board of the Congressional Fire Services Institute.

“I look forward to this opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with the board, and to work with the foundation to educate the community about fire safety and burn prevention,” Fulton said.

“We are very excited to have someone with Lee’s background in both fire safety and education join our board,” said Mary Jane Roche, chairman of the board of directors.  “He will be a valuable asset in helping to guide our efforts to provide fire and burn prevention education to the regional community.”

Established in 1973, the Burn Foundation serves the greater Philadelphia region in the prevention of burns through education, and the support of the burn care community, burn survivors and their families. During the past five years, the Burn Foundation has provided more than $1.8 million in financial support to four regional burn medical centers—Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Lehigh Valley Hospital, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Temple University Hospital—all of which treat patients from more than 160 referring hospital emergency rooms in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and the State of Delaware.
