Named to Top Ten Religion Stories of 2008
St. Davids, PA, January 12, 2009: Eastern University alumnus and bestselling author Dr. Tony Campolo '56, along with Palmer Seminary Professor Dr. Ron Sider, are among those cited in Time Magazine's top ten religion stories of 2008. "The Birth of the New Evangelicalism" is listed as the year's 7th biggest story.
"For decades leaders like Jim Wallis, Tony Campolo and Ron Sider have pressed their movement to extend its concern beyond classic issues of individual sin to questions like economic inequality, material aid overseas and the environment," Time Magazine states.
Dr. Campolo, professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University, is the founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE), an organization that develops schools and social programs in the two-thirds world and in cities across North America.
