An encouraging and inspiring teacher, Kim worked with students Karen Goulding, Ruth Chia, Abby MacNeill and Kristy Andreas. Using humor and body language, David Kim urged his pupils to "be heroic" in their playing. He also demonstrated bow techniques and gave them performance tips.
Karen Goulding, violin, played the Ciaconna from Partita in D Minor by J.S. Bach. Ruth Chia, violin, played the popular Meditation from Thais by Jules Massenet. Abby MacNeill, violin, played Beethoven's Romance in G, and Kristy Andreas, viola, played the Courante in G Major from Suite I by J.S. Bach.
A number of people from the University community came to the McInnis Auditorium to listen and see this amazing teacher in action. Celebrating his 10th Anniversary with the Philadelphia Orchestra, David Kim was honored at several Orchestra concerts this fall. He was inducted as Eastern University's Artist in Residence at the Fall 2008 Convocation.
